The Test of Leadership

Abraham Ajenifuja • November 9, 2024

If the true test of leadership is not about winning or losing, what is it about?

The True Test of Leadership: Aligning Your Business Purpose to the Beauty of God.

The test of true leadership is not about how many wins or loses you have accumulated. While the bottom line may indicate goals and achievements, true test of leadership is how you align your business purpose to the Beauty of God, for in there in there and from there comes true value and profit.

Be that as it may, life on earth for everyone may seem slow and steady, but it’s busy with fast moving parts that require a leader to know how to make decisions that will advance the cause of the business and honor God. And how to respond to environmental development that would affect their business one way or the other such as the result of the election.

These moments bring growth, transformation, and new opportunities. However, missing them can lead to stagnation and regret. Being mindful and aware of these moments enables us to make informed decisions, seize opportunities, learn from experiences, and grow and evolve.

Vehicle of Healing

In this new political and economic landscape, the true test of leadership is how you respond to the result of the election by seizing the opportunities of using your business as a vehicle of healing. This mindset is crucial amidst this new emerging economic and political landscape where navigating life's transition requires embracing humility, compassion, and prayer.

Key Strategies.

Personal: Remember Who You Are

The key strategy is to remember your main purpose, your main goal, your direction, which is aligning every aspect of your business to the beauty of God. Because your life and identity are not determined by politics but by providence.

So, you must discover, refine your purpose, through self-reflection on your values, your passion, your strengths, set goals that are achievable, bring new synergy to your team.

For your own personal growth, be humble, be vulnerable, and be relatable. Being relatable builds trust and helps bring your team together, for as you do this, you also bring cohesion into your business, where healing can take place.

Developing a strategy that reflects on your value, aligning your faith and your passions, and adapting your business strategy to those envisioned needs, and seeking guidance from mentors, peers, and spiritual leaders, as well as coaching and consulting are definitely things that leaders must embrace during this time.

Community

The second strategy is to build a diverse community. After you have refined your purpose in this landscape, which does not change, but how you pursue it may change. And that means you must know how to build constructive collaboration or synergistic energy into your business communities and stakeholders in light of the changing external environment.

Prayers

So, after you have defined and refined your purpose, and after you have spent time on building your business communities, not only with your employees, but also with your clients and your suppliers and all stakeholders of your company, the next thing is to have prayers.

Pray guidance for the incoming president, the new administration and fellow business leaders. Ask God for humility, wisdom, creativity, and focus. Pray for kindness and compassion. Ask God for the gift of kindness, compassion, forgiveness, to cultivate a heart overflowing with love. Pray for divine healing through acts of kindness soothing wounded hearts and spirits. Pray for compassionate leadership for all leaders in the home, in business, in schools, in religion and in government.

Pray that all leaders will seek compassion and kindness, governing with hearts that radiate with divine love. Pray for leaders’ empathy towards others, that they would develop true empathy, listening deeply and understanding without judgement, the different kind of perspective.

Pray for forgiveness and reconciliation, seeking forgiveness and reconciliation, healing relationships and souls. Pray for selflessness in service. Offer service to your clients, customers, employees, through kindness and compassion.

Outcome

By incorporating these strategies and prayers, you will navigate life's traditions. You will build value, creativity, and productivity into your organization, capitalize on opportunities, and fulfil your purpose amid uncertainties.

If Your Soul Could Speak
By Abraham Ajenifuja March 2, 2024
In our pursuit of life, liberty and happiness, our path is often painted with broad strokes of ambition, assertiveness - the Go-getter impulse. Yet, there lies a powerful undercurrent that shapes the true champions of both worlds—humility. Far from weakness, humility stands as the stronghold of character, the compass for growth, and the quiet force that propels leaders toward real impact.

The The King woke up with a troubled mind. This is usually caused by a troubling and startling dream. The King Nebuchadnezzar was not only troubled, but he could not remember his dream. He demanded to have someone interpret his dream or else and that compounded his problem further. When you cannot sleep at night, it is not only because Caffeine intake or late-night dinner or snack. Sleeplessness is evidence of underlying problem that is new or has been persisting for a long time unaddressed and intertwined with different areas of your life and keeps you awake, unable to sleep. It comes from the conscience. The divine space between cognition and conception of value, where thoughts and intents are evaluated to see if they are in alignment with the direction of providence. Conscience will graciously give red, yellow, and green signal to prevent acts of omission or commission. And we all have the freedom of choice to receive its promptings by grace. When we override it, the conscience will protest temporarily, but it will resurface with persistent protest at a time we least expect and in a way that will be unsettling, including in the middle of the night. The conscience may be silenced but it will not be ignored. You spend the whole night exploring the root cause or what to do about it, How to go about it and you come back to the same place where you started You have tried all but no solution. Here you are doing your best to better your life and your business and yet things are not improving. You compare yourself with where you were last year and nothing much has changed. You compare yourself with your peers, and you feel you should have Been further ahead in life. Something is missing and you cannot place your hand on it. Or perhaps you know what it is, but you need help in bringing a new insight. Or it is a recurring problem, and you want someone to come alongside with you. In any case this thing is affecting your health, your peace of mind, your productivity, your relationship etc. Are you experiencing sleeplessness where your eyes are closed but you are not sleeping? Do you go to bed and find yourself aware in couple of hours because you cannot sleep? It may seem to be a physical problem, but the root is not physical. Do you look at the clock and the clock says three in the morning when everyone else is enjoying their rest? If you are, you are not alone! Many leaders like you who work hard are also conscientious people They pay attention to what the conscience is saying. I have the good news for you. Wait no longer. What Makes for Successfully Transitioning? There is a divine paradigm woven into the fabric of life that assures creating and sustaining of beauty. Knowledge of this paradigm is a key reason why we experience pain or pleasure in life or business transitions

QUOTE: Life is an enterprise, what you make out of it is your business – Abraham J Ajenifuja. The bump was loud and brutal. It was business-mission trip to Nigeria in 2004. Eight of us landed in Abuja, and we took another flight to Owerri, in the eastern part of the country. This was my first time in this part of Nigeria. And then we must take a two-hour road trip to the town. We were on a mission to train the pastors about leadership and how to equip the congregation. A journey that should have taken two hours took almost forever. Main reason – the rain and slippery roads. I felt so sorry for three Caucasian members of our team – our former pastor in old age, a Bible College professor, and a woman. Two of us were Nigerians. I remember the road trip as we all cramped in this small car and our luggage in another following us behind. The bump was a brutal loud shock. It shook me up. Looked like the car would never get out of it. The driver told us not to worry. But these two older gentlemen seem to be expecting it and they were good sport. This bump and many others became a source of good humor jokes for many years later. We were God’s entrepreneur-ambassador on a business mission to this town. The mission was successful, and we returned to the US ten days later. Yes, life is an enterprise and what we make out of it is our business. But what kind of business is another question. In order to understand this quote, we have to understand three things: Life, Enterprise, and Business. Life is our time, and space here on earth is a journey. We are all passing through. And passing through to make an impact that will make the world better than we received it. It takes us through valleys and mountains. Sometimes, we are on top of a mountain having achieved something great, no matter what. Sometimes we are in a valley and other times you are on a bumpy and crooked road. It cost time, energy, and money. These bumps, mountains and valleys come in different form. But how we respond to it is our business that makes us better business leaders. An enterprise is a view of life that says - Life is beauty, with an eye to see what obstructs the beauty. An entrepreneur sees the beauty of life not through the lens of structures of organizations, association, government, businesses, etc., but through the lens of God’s Vision, Intent and Purpose [VIP] for the people that make up the entities. As God’s ambassadors, we were aware of this problem facing the pastors and we went on a business mission trip to address it. A business is a going concern set up to meet any deficiency in the enterprise of life. And once that deficiency is corrected, you often see an entrepreneur selling that business and moving on to other gaps in the enterprise of life. So, are you an entrepreneur? If so what is your view of life Are you in charge if a business? If so, what is the meaning or contribution of your business to the enterprise of life. As a leader, how aware are you that you are God’s ambassador-entrepreneur or a business leader or both. I mean real time, psycho-spiritual awareness that drives you? If not, life may look successful on the outside, but internally it would be life, full of sound and fury signifying nothing – W. Shakespeare. In other words, lacking meaningfulness. But I trust this is not the case! If you are either or both, the world needs you right now. The world is aching, hungry and thirsty for 21 st leadership. How are you responding to this call? Please share. And what challenges are you facing? Please, comment below. Thanks Thanks for reading Abraham J Ajenifuja, VIP Spiritual Entrepreneur, 21st Century. How well you know yourself will determine your success in life. There is a subtle gap between “who” and “why”, but which has created a huge deficit is all spectra of human endeavor. Can you imagine when Moses asked God who should I say sent me and God said “Just tell them I want to deliver them from Egypt?
